International Labour Conference, First Session
The inaugural session of the International Labour Conference of the International Labour Organization (ILO) took place soon after the creation of this international organization. ILO, which exists to this day, was created to achieve lasting peace through promoting social justice. ILO has a tripartite structure that includes delegates representing and advising governments, the workers, and the employers of the member countries.
Several women from Central and Eastern Europe participated in this first session: Marie Majerová (Czechoslovakia, workers' adviser), Louisa Landová-Štychová (Czechoslovakia, workers' adviser), Zofja Praussowa (Poland, government adviser), Mabel Grouitch (Yugoslavia, government adviser).
