Women’s Labour Activism is a public history project that tells the histories of women activists from Eastern, Central, and Southeastern Europe, who fought to improve women’s position in the world of labour. The project seeks to amplify their contributions to struggles for a more just society.
This website is based on groundbreaking academic research carried out by a team of ten scholars within the framework of “ZARAH: Women’s Labour Activism in Eastern Europe and Transnationally, From the Age of Empires to the Late 20th Century”. This research project is hosted by Central European University (Vienna, Austria, 2020-2026) and funded by an ERC Advanced Grant.
